The Head High School Girls' Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the girls' volleyball program. This includes coaching the varsity team, supporting sub-varsity levels, and overseeing the overall development of volleyball within the school. The coach will foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and lead practices and competitions for the varsity girls' volleyball team.
- Oversee and support the development of the entire volleyball program, including junior varsity, freshman, and feeder programs, to ensure alignment and continuity across grade levels.
- Establish a clear vision and philosophy for volleyball development within the school.
- Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, and fundamentals appropriate to the high school level.
- Promote student-athlete growth in leadership, character, and accountability.
- Collaborate with assistant coaches, middle school coaches, and youth programs to support long-term athlete development.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school administrators, and other coaches.
- Monitor and support student-athletes' academic progress and adherence to school and district policies.
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic association rules and regulations.
- Supervise team travel, equipment management, and game-day operations.
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience in volleyball.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, strategies, and player development.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate student-athletes and coaching staff.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to promoting a positive school culture and the values of education-based athletics.
- Required certifications and background checks as mandated by the school or district.
Please note - Coaches who hold a ND teaching license - wages are reportable to the North Dakota Teacher's Fund for Retirement (TFFR). The employee (coach) will contribute 11.75% of their salary and the District will contribute 12.75%.
