Job Overview
Modern Vet Care is a small, locally owned clinic in search of a strong veterinary technician to grow with our clinic We are looking for an experienced general practice licensed technician who will work closely with our doctors and provide excellent care for our patients and clients. Our clinic has a passion for urgent care cases, but we also see our day to day general practice appointments, surgeries, and dentals. It is important that you have a passion for your job and the field.

Duties

  • Digital Radiology - understanding patient positioning
  • Document treatments and client communications properly
  • Develop and/or read cytology
  • Proper restraint techniques
  • Knowledge of vaccines and guidelines
  • Pharmacology and knowledge of heartworm and flea/ tick medications
  • Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Triage patients - both routine and urgent care visits - accurate knowledge and obtainment of vital parameters
  • Surgical preparation and equipment knowledge as well as maintenance
  • Anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance
  • Assisting for dental procedure
  • Sterilization of surgery packs
  • Prepping patient for and assisting during surgery and procedures
  • Client education and communications
  • Perform call backs and over the phone triages
  • Punctuality
  • Maintain a clean and orderly clinic
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to multi task

Qualifications

  • Valid license as a Veterinary Technician (Licensed) with current certification in veterinary technology or related field
  • Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in animal care and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices
  • Experience with laboratory testing, X-ray imaging, and aseptic techniques is required
  • Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and pet care routines across various species including equine experience required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients about veterinary procedures using clear technical language
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

Pay: $ $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
