About the Practice
We are a busy, modern oral and maxillofacial surgery practice with locations in Wayne and South Orange, NJ, dedicated to providing high-quality surgical care and an exceptional patient experience. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Assistant to join our clinical team.
Position Summary
The Front Desk / Patient Treatment Coordinator will serve as the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in coordinating care, managing communication, and ensuring smooth front-office operations. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational ability, and experience with insurance verification and patient scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
- Greet and check in patients; manage check-out and follow-up scheduling
- Coordinate patient treatment plans and surgical scheduling with the doctor and clinical team
- Verify dental and medical insurance benefits prior to patient visits and surgeries
- Obtain and communicate coverage details to patients
- Prepare and manage patient paperwork, consents, and financial estimates
- Collect co-pays and payments; manage basic billing inquiries
- Maintain accurate patient records in the practice management system
- Support front office workflow across both locations as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Prior experience in a dental or oral surgery front desk role preferred
- Experience with patient treatment coordination and scheduling
- Strong understanding of dental and medical insurance verification and pre-authorization
- Excellent phone etiquette and patient communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail with accurate data entry and documentation
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute between Wayne and South Orange, NJ
Preferred Skills
- Experience in an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice
- Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, multi-provider environment
