Job Description
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in required field or equivalent
- Must hold a current Indiana teaching license
- Teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrates knowledge of subject area content and Indiana Academic standard
Responsibilities
1. Instruction & Curriculum Development
- Plan and deliver lessons that develop students' reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different proficiency levels.
- Incorporate culturally responsive teaching methods to support diverse backgrounds.
- Modify curriculum and assessments for ELL students to ensure accessibility.
2. Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Assess students' English proficiency levels using standardized and informal assessments.
- Track progress and provide targeted interventions to support language development.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify instruction for ELL students.
3. Classroom & Behavior Management
- Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Establish classroom routines and expectations that promote engagement and language development.
- Use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage participation.
4. Collaboration & Communication
- Work with general education teachers to support ELL students in mainstream classrooms.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and strategies for language support at home.
- Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and support staff to address students' academic and social-emotional needs.
5. Compliance & Professional Development
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district policies related to ELL instruction.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and required reports.
- Participate in professional development and training on best practices in ELL education.
