Location is flexible, within Alberta, dependent on the successful applicant.

The Manager, Data and Integration provides both strategic and operational leadership for AFSC's data, data governance, database technologies, and system integration functions. The role ensures AFSC's data assets, integration platforms, and related technologies establish clear data lineage, improve data quality, and enhance trust in reporting and analytics to ensure reliability, security, and strategic alignment with the organization's business priorities and the Next Horizon Digital Strategy.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Lead the strategy, architecture, and operations of AFSC's data and integration ecosystem, including enterprise databases, APIs, and middleware platforms.
  • Develop and maintain AFSC's data and integration roadmap, aligning technology capabilities with business and analytical needs.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 8–12 data and integration specialists, including database administrators, integration developers, and analysts.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Information Management, Policy, Risk and Compliance, and Security to ensure data and integration solutions adhere to AFSC's architecture, governance, and compliance standards.
  • Partner with Business Intelligence (BI), Enterprise Solutions, Commercial Solutions Development, Product Portfolio Owners and Operations to design and deliver integrated system landscapes supporting business outcomes.
  • Lead and participate in data governance committees, providing technical insights into data quality, integrity, and interoperability. 

  • What are we looking for from you? 


  • Deep knowledge of modern data governance and security practices, including the implementation of data catalogs, data lineage, and ensuring data security through encryption and fine-grained access control
  • Strong understanding of data governance, quality management, metadata, and master data practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud-based data services (e.g., Microsoft Fabric/Purview, Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse) and modern integration platforms.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining complex data environments supporting analytics, operations, and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and vendor management abilities.
  • Experience designing and managing modern data architectures, including cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse), data lakes, and real-time data streaming platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka) an asset.  
  • Experience with enterprise database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) and integration platforms (Boomi, MuleSoft, Informatica, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with cloud services (Azure, Microsoft Fabric/Purview, AWS) and hybrid data integration architectures.

  • Qualifications 

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 8–10 years in data management or integration roles, with leadership experience.
  • Certifications in Data Management, Database Administration, or Integration Architecture considered an asset.
