About the Role

We're looking for a skilled and hands-on Mechanical Technician to join our Building Operations team at our flagship retail development - Oakridge Park. This is an intermediate-level role ideal for a mechanically minded professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same.

Reporting to the Mechanical Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in keeping the building running safely, efficiently, and sustainably. From HVAC and building automation to electrical systems and life safety, you'll be part of the team that ensures an exceptional experience for tenants and visitors alike.

If you enjoy solving problems, working with cutting-edge building systems, and being part of a collaborative operations team — this is a great opportunity to build a long-term career in commercial building operations.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical building systems

  • Work alongside trades, contractors, and building management on repairs, upgrades, and projects

  • Maintain and troubleshoot systems including:

    • HVAC and climate control

    • Building Automation Systems (BAS)

    • Electrical and lighting

    • Plumbing and water treatment

    • Generators and life safety systems

    • Elevating devices

  • Perform preventative maintenance and respond to unscheduled repairs

  • Monitor and manage building systems through computerized maintenance platforms (CMMS/BAS)

  • Respond to tenant service requests with a customer-first mindset

  • Participate in environmental monitoring and reporting

  • Support safety programs, inspections, and risk management initiatives

  • Assist with waste, recycling, and hazardous materials processes

  • Stay current with industry best practices, codes, and emerging technologies

What You Bring

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems

  • Experience using BAS and CMMS platforms

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Level 2 Water Treatment Plant Operator certification (or willingness to obtain)

One of the following technical backgrounds will make the ideal candidate:

  • 4th Class Power Engineer with 3+ years in large commercial or retail facilities

  • Certified Technician (C.Tech. or A.ScT.)

  • Journeyman or senior apprentice (Electrician, Plumber, HVAC/Refrigeration, Automation & Controls)

What Makes You Successful in This Role

  • A collaborative, professional approach and strong communication skills

  • A proactive, self-motivated work style

  • Excellent time management and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

  • Calm under pressure and confident responding to urgent situations

  • Strong documentation and organizational habits

  • Practical problem-solving and sound decision-making

  • You're comfortable working in a hands-on role that may include physical activity, varied working conditions, and emergency response when required.

This role includes participation in an on-call rotation and occasional evening or weekend work.

Base salary range: $65,000 – $72,000 per year

(Plus overtime and on-call rotation compensation, where applicable)

Based on the position, QuadReal offers a competitive total rewards package in addition to the base pay, which may include a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, pension plan, and paid time off.

The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual's skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.

We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Even if your skills don't align 100% with the listed qualifications or salary range, we encourage you to apply – you may be a great fit for this role or others in our community. Applicants may also be considered for alternative positions within the organization where their qualifications and experience align more closely with available opportunities.
