We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely dispatch of outgoing shipments. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, tracking shipments, and maintaining records of all outgoing goods. You will work closely with warehouse personnel to ensure that all orders are correctly packed, labeled, and ready for collection. A strong understanding of shipping procedures, logistics software, and carrier requirements is essential. We require all employees to adhere to safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe Lifting practices when handling packages. The ideal candidate will possess excellent administrative skills, strong communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with common carriers and freight forwarders for shipment pickups and deliveries.
- Track outgoing shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Verify that orders are correctly picked, packed, and staged for shipment.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date shipping records.
- Communicate with customers and internal departments regarding shipment status.
- Operate shipping software and computer systems proficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Adhere to safety guidelines, including the use of PPE and safe Lifting techniques.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
