Job Description
• Contribute to Community Affairs portfolio, serving as the day-to-day manager for Community Advisory Boards (CABs) and Auxiliaries.
o Attend CAB and other community meetings as assigned (may require evening or weekend hours).
o Draft meeting agendas for CABs for review
o Prepare meeting minutes for review
o Generate new ideas or initiatives to enhance support of CABs
o Respond to identified CAB needs
• Perform independent research and analysis on relevant community topics and propose solutions to community needs.
• Draft one-page issue sheets, larger reports, and PowerPoint presentations to support community education and advocacy.
• Provide adequate support to supervisor as evidenced by timely, accurate completion of all assigned projects, organization of files, and production of high-quality, professional documents with little direction.
• Provide Auxiliaries with educational resources on their independent responsibilities and roles as 501(c)(3) organizations.
• Participate in Auxiliary meetings as needed.
• Support Auxiliaries on member recruitment, fundraising, programmatic developments, and community engagement.
• Track and analyze Auxiliary data
• Participate in a full range of government affairs issues
• Playing a central and often independent role in managing government affairs issues.
• Acts as the initial point of contact for government affairs projects and inquiries
• Collaborate with the Office of External & Regulatory Affairs at the Central Office
Community engagement:
• Participate in the design and development of community engagement campaigns to increase the community's awareness of NYC Health + Hospital/Queens' programs and services
• Enhance NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens' awareness of current community health needs by attending crucial community planning board meetings, city agency partnership meetings, and community-based coalition meetings.
• Support developing and maintaining an enterprise-wide database of community stakeholders and partners.
• Anticipate the needs of supervisor and team members, helping ensure that projects are completed promptly and accurately.
• Improve workflow process for optimal performance, taking ownership and following through.
• Develop a solid working knowledge of the health system's mission, vision, and strategic objectives and an ability to navigate the system.
• Provide effective support to supervisor as evidenced by timely, accurate completion of all assigned projects, organization of files, and production of high-quality, professional documents with little direction.
• Advanced use of Outlook, MS Office, and other programs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree issued upon completion of a four-year course in an accredited college or university; and,
2. Four years of full time, professional experience in a health or social agency in a responsible administrative or supervisory capacity, of which two years experience is to be in community service and/or public relations; or,
3. A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university, and three years of professional experience; or,
4. A satisfactory combination of education, training and experience.
Department Preferences
• A Masters degree or JD in a relevant field, including but not limited to, is highly preferred with five years of experience in the field of community engagement, intergovernmental, government relations, policy, and legislative affairs, of which at least two years focused on health or healthcare; or
• A Baccalaureate Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university and 10 years of relevant experience.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business, government, hospital, educational, or a nonprofit organization.
• Familiarity with tax-exempt finances and operations is preferred but not required.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Able to manage time effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• Experience with and demonstrated knowledge of City government operations;

• Familiarity and relationships with major healthcare industry stakeholders (associations, advocates, other delivery systems).
