Job Summary:

The Facility & Utility Manager will assume responsibility for all facility systems (including HVAC, fire suppression and monitoring, security, grounds, etc.) and utility systems (including water treatment, steam generation, CO2 systems, nitrogen generation, waste disposal, wastewater, process cooling, etc.). The individual in this position will facilitate safe and timely completion of preventative maintenance and break-fix maintenance for the equipment under their control. The Facility & Utility Manager will manage and execute process improvement projects related to the systems under their control and in conjunction with customer departments within the organization and external stakeholders. They will be the main point of contact for the systems under their purview - externally and internally. This role is responsible for making operations more efficient and will oversee new installation projects related to building and utility systems.

Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide complete ownership of all facilities and utility systems.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of all facilities and utility systems.
  • Ensures continuity of utilities supply in accordance with the requirements of production areas.
  • Develop and implement changes to existing technical solutions to continuously improve the quantitative consumption of utilities and their quality.
  • Manage improvement projects and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure work is well coordinated and completed with transparency.
  • Translate the company's higher level environmental targets for manufacturing into a local site-specific strategy and implementation plan.
  • Maintain all state and municipality licensing and permitting and ensure any state or local equipment inspections are completed and up to date.
  • Communicate status of technical projects to company throughout the process.
  • Implement and ensure the continued functionality of management systems (such as change management, preventive maintenance, spare parts management, lock-out tag-out, 5s (organization), health and safety requirements, quality auditing, metrics reporting, etc.) related to equipment within your purview.
  • Ensure safe operation of utilities systems, such as ammonia installations, and manage the chemical rescue team and serve as emergency response coordinator.
  • Evaluate contracted work needs and plan resources accordingly.
  • Facilitate and administer the Contractor Management process and ensure contractors complete tasks on time and in budget.
  • Develop and implement an infrastructure and facilities management plan with technical solutions to improve the condition of installations.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Manager and finance team in the development of a budget for fixed and variable costs related to utilities (yearly, 3-year, and long-term master plan)
  • Thoroughly examine potential risks in technical activities and test problem areas; develop mitigation strategies and implement as required.
  • Develop and track metrics to identify areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.
  • Responsible for the identification of system constraints due to forecasted business needs or market trends, and the development of associated solutions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret drawings, P&ID's, and technical specifications.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or other CAD software packages.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently, being able to positively influence others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude and hands on mechanical ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and proactively manage future workload.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English.
  • Proficient in mathematics and engineering calculations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable working with ERP system/electronic data.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to identify strategic challenges and adapt to changes in business goals while implementing changes to personal and functional goals.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline, preferred degree in mechanical, industrial, or systems engineering, or equivalent work experience in process development, Continuous Improvement, or other technical role will be considered
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering or technical role
  • Prior experience with utilities systems
  • Prior experience with ammonia systems, preferred
  • Prior experience in facility management or facility engineering, preferred
  • Experience in food/beverage industry, preferred
