About the Role

In this highly specialized pediatric role, you'll provide advanced assessment and treatment for children with craniofacial conditions, including cleft lip/palate, velopharyngeal dysfunction, resonance disorders, feeding challenges, and complex communication needs. Your work will directly support our growing Craniofacial Program and multidisciplinary clinics.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive communication and/or feeding assessments, including specialized evaluations for craniofacial and resonance disorders.
  • Gather and analyze medical, developmental, and caregiver information to develop tailored treatment plans.
  • Provide evidence-based intervention to advance expressive/receptive language, speech sound development, resonance, feeding, and swallowing skills.
  • Collaborate closely with caregivers, plastic surgery, ENT, radiology, and multidisciplinary team members to create coordinated, outcomes-focused care plans.
  • For designated team members, perform specialized procedures such as:
  • Clinical feeding assessments
  • Oral Pharyngeal Motility Studies (OPMs)
    in partnership with Radiology
  • Flexible fiberoptic nasopharyngoscopy
    with Plastic Surgery/ENT
  • Utilize an Episodes of Care model, continually reassessing progress and adjusting goals.
  • Provide caregiver coaching, education, and home programming to reinforce therapy gains.
  • Document thoroughly and professionally to support quality care and accurate billing.
  • Participate in craniofacial team meetings, quality improvement efforts, new program development, and multidisciplinary initiatives.
  • Mentor students, support new staff onboarding, and contribute to a culture of lifelong learning.

Education Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Communication Disorders/Speech Language Pathology required

Experience Qualifications

  • Experience working with pediatric patients or a pediatric clinical internship preferred
  • If working with the craniofacial population, completion of a clinical fellowship year within the area of craniofacial anomalies and disorders or at least 5 years clinical experience with up to date evidence based practice within the context of craniofacial speech and language disorders is required

Skills And Abilities

  • Requires the ability to communicate effective, both verbally and in writing
  • Requires basic computer skills
  • Requires the ability to organize responsibilities and manage time wisely
  • Requires the ability to work effectively in a team setting

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required
  • Current and valid Nebraska State License in Speech Language Pathology; a temporary license is acceptable if candidate is still within their clinical fellowship year required
  • Current and valid Certification of Clinical Competency from American Speech-Language Association (ASHA Required
  • Would consider candidate completing Clinical Fellowship Year; Certification of Clinical Competency within 1 Year Required
  • If working with craniofacial disorders, Membership with American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) and/or ASHA SIG related to Craniofacial and Velopharyngeal Disorders. Required
