About this role

Carrier has an opportunity for an Application Engineer to join the Airside Solutions team supporting our commercial applied semi-custom air handling unit (AHU) team linked to Syracuse, NY. This can be a remote role, but preference will be given to candidates from Syracuse.

As a member of the Application Engineering team, you will work closely with the product manager, our commercial sales channel, and a cross-functional product team to support customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the sales of Airside Products, provide accurate and timely responses to presales inquiries and assist with equipment selections, review specifications, design documents, equipment schedules, and application criteria
  • Create, maintain, and update technical sales material, i.e., product data, technical manuals, product bulletins, marketing brochures, application guides, technical presentations, and sales presentations
  • Present presentations of sales and training material at sales offices, customer events, industry gatherings, and through webinars and recorded sessions
  • Process customer "Engineered to Order" (ETO) request(s), work across multiple disciplines to review, document and generate pricing for customer requests
  • Work with product managers to perform competitive and market analysis, collect sales office and customer feedback for assigned products.
  • Assist to plan and implement product updates, and new product releases and provide critical input for the development of product roadmaps
  • Maintain selection software and pricing systems, work across multiple disciplines to implement corrections, updates, and new product releases in the selection software and pricing system

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 3+ years experience in commercial HVAC sales, consulting engineering, or product support

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, interdisciplinary engineering, or any other engineering discipline
  • Experience with commercial air handling unit products and applications
  • Technical understanding of HVAC systems, including system design, building and energy codes, system operation, refrigeration systems, fans, electrical and control systems, and psychometrics
  • Product marketing experience in a technical/manufacturing environment
  • English written and verbal communication
  • Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Analytical thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Collect and analyze data, identify trends, develop conclusions, and propose solutions
  • Interpersonal skills, i.e., active listening, teamwork, responsibility, dependability, flexibility, motivation, respect, and patience
  • SAP and Microsoft Office, i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Competency in business fundamentals and math skills,
  • Organizational skills, prioritize and self-direct with multiple activities and projects
  • Multi-task in a fast-paced environment
