Job Summary:
The Material Handler will provide forklift and mechanical support for loading, unloading, moving, sorting, and arranging materials in accordance with Production needs. Often working independently, operating a forklift, this role works in close proximity with teammates and management as a crucial part of ensure materials are properly stored, organized, and safely transported. This role will also provide hands-on construction support for the Fleet team as needed. The Material Handler reports to the Production Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials, ensuring accurate documentation and proper storage.
- Safely operate forklift to move, load, and unload construction materials, ensuring minimal damage and timely distribution.
- Handle and dispose of waste materials according to company guidelines and environmental regulations.
- Maintain the 5S methodology (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) in the workspace to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Report on any deficiencies of workspace 5S principles and work with Production Manager to make necessary adjustments.
- Clean out all debris in from Material Storage Area(s), and unbundling product when delivered
- Maneuver large loads around yard
- Organize tools, equipment, and materials to optimize access and reduce movement and handling time.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on forklift equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Report on inventory levels of all equipment/tools/parts/VAPS needed for service tasks and for reorder purposes working with Product Manager
- Monitor dumpster levels and call for pick-ups when needed
- Load up Knockdown materials, as needed
- Unload all trucks that come in with materials
- Follow all company safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of protective gear.
- Attend and participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to optimize efficiency and safety.
- Back up other Forklift Drivers and Service Techs, as needed to include loading/unloading containers

High School diploma or GED required
- Must have general hand tool, carpentry knowledge
- Previous experience operating forklifts; certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of 5S or other organizational methodologies.
- A current valid license and good driving record required
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, keeping on-task
- Have willingness & ability to learn new construction methods and trades
- Ability to lift/move 50 lbs
- Be a true team player with a "can-do" positive attitude
- Good communications skills to interact with internal team
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions
- Commitment to adhering to safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to take direction, manage timelines & deadlines, and offer trouble shooting solutions as needed
- Have a solid work ethic that includes doing the right thing, being reliable, trustworthy and honest
