We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Manager to lead operations at our Bedford Park, IL facility. The Plant Manager will oversee all daily plant activities, including production, maintenance, quality assurance, and safety. This role plays a key part in ensuring operational efficiency, employee engagement, and meeting customer delivery expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

Safety First: Most importantly, promoting a safety-first culture ensuring that all equipment is operating safely, all safety procedures clearly communicated and all teammates working safely at all times. Also working together with management and teammates to drive our ESG initiatives forward.

Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day plant operations (slitting, cut-to-length, tempering, fabrication, polishing etc.). Ensure production schedules are met with efficiency and accuracy. Monitor and maintain plant equipment performance and reliability and drive productivity improvements while reducing downtime.

Staffing: Ensure plant staffing levels are sufficient to meet customer demands on all three shifts. Assist with recruiting, hiring and training plan for operation personnel. Work with our teams to quickly resolve any personnel or HR matters that arise. Ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed and consistently applied.

Production Efficiency: Work with production teams to most efficiently process steel while minimizing scrap. Strong ability to determine departmental productivity through the use of daily/weekly/monthly production metrics.

Quality: Maintain the highest standards of quality for all production procedures and all products shipping to our customers. Collaborate with our Quality teammates to ensure our Quality Management System is adhering to all ISO work instructions and standards.

Cost Control: Monitor the cost side of our operations while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely & compliant manner. Identify areas of excess cost and work with our suppliers, teammates and management to reduce excess costs while maintaining KPI's.

Maintenance: Administering a robust Maintenance plan with our existing maintenance staff and outside vendors that maximizes the uptime of all processing equipment at the lowest total cost to the company.

Inventory Control: work with our inventory management teammates to ensure our inventory is accurate and minimize the amount of internally lost or damaged items. Perform cycle counts as regularly scheduled.

Interaction with administrative support, reviewing daily production, Quality, HR activities, including operating, billing, and inventory reports to determine any staffing, equipment or process changes that need to be made in the facility

Working with all other Management teams and departments at all times to cohesively drive customers satisfaction, company performance, and financial ROI goals. Collaborate with General Manager and Executive Management to create a strategic vision for organizational roadmap to achieve significant growth (including key business milestones)

Licensing or Certifications Not required but a plus if you have any of the following licenses or certifications: MBB, LEAN, PMP, STAR, TEOA, TPM, ISO, WCOM

Qualifications; Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, Management, Education, Technical, or Leadership. Or Master's Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years' management experience in a steel plant environment.
  • Microsoft office products and applications
  • Strong math skills to include measurements, fractions and decimals.
  • General understanding of OSHA compliance, reporting standards and safety best practices.
  • Extensive attention to detail.
  • Ability to create and analyze production data and reporting metrics.
  • Good organizational, leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
