Job description:

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all production activities within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures that production runs efficiently, safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest quality standards. The Production Manager schedules production teams, manages resources, and collaborates with other departments to achieve company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Plan, organize, and schedule the production process to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
  • Ensure production schedules are followed and adjusts accordingly to address delays or issues.
  • Monitor production output and efficiency, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Supervise and mentor team leaders and operators.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
  • Evaluate performance and identify opportunities for employee development.
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage and productivity.

Quality & Safety

  • Collaborate with customer service and other staff to ensure products and packaging exceeds expectations.
  • Implement corrective actions to resolve production or quality issues.
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety practices, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company policies.

Resource & Process Management

  • Manage raw material usage, minimize waste, and oversee inventory for production needs.
  • Work closely with maintenance to ensure equipment is properly serviced and downtime is minimized.
  • Track KPIs such as production output, efficiency, scrap rates, and downtime.
  • Drive lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with supply chain, engineering, and procurement to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide input on new equipment and technology upgrades.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
