Job Specifications
Employment Status: Full-Time
Are you someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining safe and beautiful facilities, and thrives in a dynamic outdoor and indoor environment? We're looking for a dedicated Utility Service Worker to join our team and support a wide range of maintenance and operational functions that keep our facilities running smoothly.
What You'll Do
- Perform general grounds and facility maintenance, including mowing, weeding, fertilizing, applying weed control, and cleaning buildings, tanks, and structures.
- Install and maintain irrigation systems; assist in semi-skilled plumbing, carpentry, and minor equipment or facility repairs.
- Maintain, refurbish, and perform preventative maintenance on lawn equipment, including sharpening blades, changing belts, and completing minor repairs.
- Operate a variety of equipment and monitor/maintain the Septage Receiving Station, ensuring accurate documentation and daily work order reporting.
- Perform general janitorial duties and support a variety of hands-on tasks that keep facilities safe, clean, and functional.
- Oversee and guide temporary personnel working on lawn care, landscaping, and project-based assignments.

Minimum Training & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of maintenance or construction experience that includes mechanical repair and installation; OR
- One (1) year of experience that includes utility distribution or collection
NOTE: Successfully completed studies beyond the high school level may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester hours or 720 classroom hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Necessary Special Requirements
In accordance with the designation for positions assigned to this class, incumbents must, at the time of appointment:
- Valid Class E (or equivalent) State driver's license
- At the department director's discretion, certain positions may require employees to obtain a Back Flow Prevention Assembly Tester certificate within six months of employment, as a condition of continued employment.
Salary Range
