Duties

  • Safely operate a variety of trucks including tractor-trailers, vehicles to move freight within port facilities.
  • Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment and techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and safety standards are maintained.
  • Drive route-specific deliveries between port terminals, warehouses, and distribution centers with precision and timeliness.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections on all vehicles to verify safety features, mechanical condition, and compliance with transportation regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, load details, and vehicle logs in accordance with company policies.
  • Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws to prevent accidents or incidents during transit operations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and other team members to coordinate schedules and resolve any logistical issues promptly.

Skills

  • Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, or dump trucks.
  • Must have TWIC card
  • Strong knowledge of route driving within port environments or similar logistics hubs.
  • Skilled in manual transmission operation and proficient with various trailer types such as flatbed, refrigerated trailer, tanker, roll-off truck, or dump truck.
  • Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or other handling equipment when necessary.
  • Familiarity with freight handling procedures and cargo securing techniques to ensure safe transport.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with relevant endorsements for different trailer types; experience with tractor-trailer operation is preferred.
  • Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
