Job Description:

Rochester Public Schools is seeking an IT Analyst who is responsible, dependable, and committed to building a long-term career with us. You must be a goal-driven team player with solid organizational skills and keen attention to detail for engineering and managing client computing systems, supporting escalated technical issues, contributing to network-related operations, and supporting department projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Provide operational support for the district's LAN, WAN, and wireless infrastructure, including switches, access points, and related equipment.
  • Monitor network performance, respond to alerts, and escalate issues when needed.
  • Document network configurations, changes, and technical procedures.
  • Support core IP services such as DHCP, DNS, and IP address management under the direction of senior staff.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware and related endpoint equipment.
  • Assist with switch configuration, content-filtering updates, and backup operations.
  • Administer and maintain device software management and deployment systems.
  • Evaluate and implement software solutions, documentation standards, and technical processes.
  • Provide advanced technical support, resolve escalated issues, and deliver high-quality customer service.
  • Mentor technical support staff and contribute to a collaborative, efficient work environment.
  • Support digital security efforts and assist in process improvement through data and workflow analysis.
  • Provide onsite response for network, VOIP, power, and infrastructure-related incidents.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and K–12 IT needs; recommend improvements as appropriate.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • At least 4 years of IT experience, or a bachelor's degree in a computer-related field; including a minimum 2 years of hands-on technical support experience in operational or service-oriented environments.
  • Broad understanding of wired and wireless networking concepts, including basic switch and access point functions.
  • Familiarity with IP services such as DHCP, DNS, and IP address management.
  • Strong knowledge of desktop operating systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated break/fix experience with desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and related peripherals.
  • Mobile device troubleshooting experience (iOS, ChromeOS, Android).
  • Ability to provide remote support using remote-control tools.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to support staff and students across varied skill levels.
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check as required by Minnesota state law.

Job Requirements: Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with software packaging, deployment, and endpoint management tools.
  • Experience supporting K–12 technology environments, including Chromebooks, access points, and classroom technology.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace administration or Chromebook management.
  • Working knowledge of VLANs, IP addressing, routing fundamentals, and basic switch configuration.
  • Experience producing clear technical documentation and maintaining accurate records.
  • Prior experience using ticketing systems and following ITIL-aligned practices.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in fast-paced, team-based environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft/Google/Apple credentials.

Job Requirements: Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Intune, SCCM, or similar endpoint imaging and software deployment tools.
  • Proficiency in mobile device deployment and management, including iOS, ChromeOS, and Android platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create clear technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to take end-to-end ownership of technical issues, including follow-through and resolution.
  • Foundational background in networking and infrastructure, including LAN/WAN/WLAN environments, basic switch configuration, and access point support.
  • General understanding of server environments and the ability to assist with routine, guided tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose issues methodically across systems and networks.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and user/device management principles.
  • Advanced Windows technical support capability, including registry, file and folder permissions, local/domain services, and OS-level troubleshooting.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or similar).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment up to 50–70 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to work in wiring closets, ceilings, and confined spaces, with fine finger dexterity for equipment handling.

Certificates and License Experience:

  • Microsoft or CompTIA certifications preferred.
