The PLC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and related automation systems. This role ensures optimal performance of machinery and equipment used in manufacturing or industrial processes, contributing to minimal downtime and efficient operations.  Tempo fosters a learning environment and encourages all staff to continue to build their skills and knowledge as our technology evolves.  The entire Maintenance team works as a team to overcome shift obstacles, exceed daily department targets and celebrate team successes.  All Tempo employees are expected to Promote Tempo's core values by working within all company policies and procedures.
 
Duties include:
Install, configure, and maintain PLC systems and associate hardware.
Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC-related issues, including wiring, programming, and component failures.
Modify and update PLC programs to improve system performance or accommodate process changes.
Collaborate with Management and maintenance teams to implement automation solutions.
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on control systems.
Maintain accurate documentation of PLC programs, wiring diagrams, and system changes.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.
Train maintenance staff on basic PLC operations and troubleshooting techniques
Planned maintenance and troubleshooting for break/fix events of industrial production equipment, including ability quickly diagnose and repair equipment, including:
Engines, Motors
Pneumatic Control Systems and Tools
Conveyor Equipment
OEM and Internally Modified Production Equipment
Punches and Dies
Electrical Systems
Blending and Deburring Equipment
Hydraulic Equipment
Working with External Vendors:
Ability to host/supervise external resources (third-party and OEM service technicians)
Reporting/Documentation:
Starting and stop times for work through MaintainX
Logging parts, and communicating work completed, any irregularities, and status in workorders through MaintainX
Follow ISO work instructions
Maintenance technicians are encouraged to maintain up to date technical knowledge by
Attending educational workshops
Reviewing technical publications
Establishing personal networks.
Other duties may be assigned by the Maintenance Manager as per the needs of the business.

Minimum Experience/Skills Requirements:
Technical Diploma, Automation or related field.
5-10 years' experience working with PLC Programming industrial mechanical equipment.
Proven experience with PLC system (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron).
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and control circuits.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic.
Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Be able to work both independently and as a team in a cohesive, cross-functional manner.
Attitude must be one of service to the operations we support.
Commitment to finishing the job on time and on budget:
Ability to work overtime is required independently to complete the job.
Ability to competently hand off the job to the next shift.
Ability to be on call at times on off-shifts.
Must supply own basic tools to start.
Sound capability working with technology, to document work in a timely manner (phone/tablet/software).
Ability to use hand and power tools and to be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to follow work instructions, diagrams, drawings and schematics.
The ideal candidate will possess all of the minimum skills but will also have:
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Knowledge of safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Certified Industrial Electrician.
Experience with maintenance software (MaintainX).
CAD Experience (AutoCad/Solidworks) is nice to have.
Requirements
Licensed Millwright or Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) required
3-5 years of experience as a maintenance technician
Understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
Ability to read blueprints, both electrical and mechanical
Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
High level of Health & Safety knowledge and standards
