General Overview
CitiKidz is an after-school program of CitiChurch, which exists to develop the Allapattah community by providing direct educational and spiritual opportunities, strengthening families, and connecting residents in a supportive neighborhood.
The CitiKidz program operates on school days (Monday–Friday) from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM and hosts an exciting, high-energy, Super FUN Summer Camp from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM (an opportunity for more hours). We serve approximately 60 students in grades K–5 from the Allapattah area of Miami.
Daily activities include:
- Homework help (after school)
- Snacks
- Physical fitness
- Reading
- Arts & crafts
- Social skills development
- Dance
- Field trips
- Other specialized enrichment activities
Position Overview
The CitiKidz Lead Teacher plays a key role in ensuring the success of the CitiKidz After School Program by providing leadership, support, and oversight across all areas of programming.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide direction to CitiKidz after school instructors.
- Ensure effective implementation and training related to:
- Overall daily program flow
- Schedules
- Procedures
- Curriculum
- Lesson plans
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment for all students.
- Promote active student participation and growth.
- Maintain regular, supportive communication with families to align on goals and ensure each child's development is nurtured.
Collaboration & Community: The Lead Teacher works closely with:
- CitiKidz program staff
- School administration
- Volunteers
- Community partners
- Students and families
This role is ideal for a proactive and passionate educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily schedules and procedures are followed consistently, promptly, and with excellence.
- Meet weekly with the Program Administrator for planning, updates, and feedback.
- Cultivate a positive team environment grounded in collaboration and a growth mindset.
- Assist with weekly lesson planning, scheduling, and curriculum implementation.
- Support instructional strategies across academics, physical education, and social skills integration.
- Lead student activities and ensure alignment with overall program goals and specialty area
Requirements:
- Passion for working with elementary school-aged children in an after-school setting.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Willingness to grow professionally, accept feedback, and engage in ongoing development.
- Experience working with staff, students, and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Adaptable, attentive to detail, proactive in solving problems, and able to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Fun, energetic, and a self-starter with a team-oriented mindset.
- Reliable personal transportation and a working cell phone.
- Available to work all school days from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM AND summer camp between 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Able to pass a Level 2 background screening.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $ $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
