About the Role
The Netowrk/Systems Administrator will be responsible for supporting Opentrons employees-both onsite and remote-by resolving technical issues and maintaining day-to-day IT operations. This role will focus on network & infrastructure management, system troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable connectivity across the organization.
This is an onsite position based in Long Island City, NY, reporting directly to the Senior Information Technology Manager.
What You Will Do
Network Operations:

  • Troubleshoot network performance issues and address potential bottlenecks or outages
  • Analyze network traffic patterns, identify performance issues, and optimize network configurations
  • Perform regular network maintenance tasks, apply patches, and upgrade network equipment and software
  • Maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control policies to safeguard sensitive data and protect against cyber threats
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions to improve network and system performance
  • Outline change requests and be onsite as needed during maintenance windows

System Administration & End-User Support:
  • Troubleshoot Windows and macOS systems; administer Intune and Jamf for endpoint management
  • Manage and resolve technical issues and fulfill service requests via the JIRA Service Management system
  • Provide camera and DVR support for the Innolabs office

Cross-Functional Support:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various projects and provide technical expertise in network-related matters

Documentation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Create systems, services, and process documentation for the IT team

Who We Are Looking For
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred / equivalent experience with relevant technical networking certifications accepted

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of related systems admin experience preferred, or 3+ years proven track record managing networking systems internally for a mid-size or larger organization
  • Professional certifications are a plus (CompTIA Network+, CCNA, etc)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure hardware and configuration
  • Proficient in networking, system security, and technical troubleshooting
  • Ability to analyze, report, and interpret data effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create clear documentation
  • Capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Excellent customer service mindset
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work independently

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to safely lift up to 20 lbs. required
Compensation Range: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $100,000 and $115,000 per year; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience. We typically target mid-range for well-qualified candidates. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity and full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.
