Position Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct care to residents in a long-term care and skilled nursing setting. CNAs assist residents with daily living activities, ensure their comfort and safety, and support the nursing staff in delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or emotional condition to nursing staff.
- Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Help residents with mobility, including transferring, ambulation, and use of assistive devices.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
- Document care provided and observations in accordance with facility policies.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure holistic resident care.
- Observing resident behavior, mood, and physical condition, noting any changes and reporting them to the nurse.
- Serving meals and assisting residents with eating as needed.
- Maintaining resident's personal hygiene by assisting with oral care, incontinence care, and changing bed linens.
- Implementing safety precautions to prevent falls and injuries.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current CNA certification in the state of New Mexico.
- CPR certification (preferred).
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable.
- Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids.
- Interaction with elderly and disabled residents.
