Role Description:

The Regional Business Development Manager is responsible for the implementation of comprehensive, Chamber-wide membership, sponsorship sales and renewals. This includes solicitation for membership and sponsorship of Chamber programs, events, and initiatives. As part of the Revenue team, this position also works with the team to ensure members and sponsors have an exceptional experience as part of their investment in the Nashville Chamber.

This role requires a dynamic, hands-on business development manager who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and who is passionate about our mission, values, and the unique intangible product we provide. This individual will have a proven track record of success in sales.

Provides excellent customer service for the purpose of increasing membership and sponsorship retention.

Essential Functins:

Membership

  • Identify strong potential prospects to generate outbound leads and sales opportunities to encourage them to become Members of the Chamber. Meet with potential members individually to sell the value proposition of being a member of the Chamber
  • Accountable for using a sales funnel and the full sales lifecycle to exceed member recruitment goals
  • Maintain all prospect contacts in Chamber database.
  • Communicate opportunities for engagement/involvement to new Chamber members and sponsors.
  • Participating in Chamber events to promote interest in Chamber membership and sponsorship
  • Coordinate sales ask with Investor Relations team when prospect is a strong candidate for membership and Partnership investment
  • Identify strong potential prospects to generate outbound leads and sales opportunities to encourage them to become Members of the Chamber.
  • Maintain all prospect contacts in Chamber database.
  • Achieve or exceed the specified membership revenue budget.

Sponsorship

  • Identify strong potential prospects to generate outbound leads and sales opportunities to encourage them to become Sponsors of the Chamber.
    Note: must be a Chamber member to sponsor
  • Accountable for using a sales funnel and the full sales lifecycle to exceed sponsor recruitment goals
  • Maintain all prospect contacts in Chamber database.
  • Using a consultative approach, work with prospects to gain an understanding of their needs and develop customized proposals to win their business and acquire sponsorship revenue.
  • Work in a consultative manner with sponsors to deepen relationships and create annuity revenue and renewal opportunities for the Chamber.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing staff and program managers to create customized presentations and sales collateral for use in sponsorship presentations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in response to prospect and sponsor requests.
  • Attend programs and events to build knowledge of Chamber products and services, and to foster sponsor relationships.
  • Execute written sponsorship agreements.
  • Work with the Director of Business Development to ensure timely billing and collection of all sponsorship revenue.
  • Achieve or exceed the specified sponsorship revenue budget.
  • Report sales-to-date regularly to supervisor and program managers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of member information.

Job Specifications:

A.   KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • College preferred in related field (i.e. business, marketing)
  • Requires a minimum of three- five years of sales experience and relevant training
  • Proven success in exceeding sales goals and client expectations, particularly in sales of an intangible product
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Experienced with prospect management and customer relationship management software

B.   SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Great enthusiasm, self-motivation and a positive attitude
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Effective oral communication, telephone and writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability to learn and communicate all benefits of Chamber membership and sponsorship
  • Must have the ability to drive to prospect appointments
  • Ability to work with all levels of business and community leaders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Accountable to generate combined development team annual goal in new member and sponsor investments, plus retention of renewal members.
