Summary:
The Career Services Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of all career related services for Casper College students and alumni. The coordinator provides leadership and direction by collaborating with campus and community partners to develop services that build career readiness and enrich the total development of students and alumni. This position reports to the Director of Student Success.
Responsibilities:
The Career Services Coordinator is the primary administrator of all career services at Casper College. They are responsible for providing leadership for the development, implementation, and assessment of career-related programming and resources to help students explore interests, identify a career path, build career ready skills, and successfully transition into the workforce. Building strong relationships and partnerships across divisions and throughout the community is essential to this role. The Career Services Coordinator also serves an essential role in supporting retention efforts through the advisement of General Studies majors, providing academic coaching, and assisting with new student advising.
Essential Duties- Administer Career Services through the development and implementation of all career-related programming and resources.
- Assess the effectiveness of programs and services and recommend improvements.
- Cultivate relationships with campus and community stakeholders including CC employees, local employers, nonprofits, and government organizations in order to develop partnerships that will benefit students and alumni.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to students, faculty, staff, and community members to promote Career Services initiatives and Casper College.
- Execute essential career services; including career and major exploration, resume writing, interview preparation, and connecting students to various work experiences such as informational interviews, internships, or job opportunities.
- Plan and implement campus and community events designed to prepare students for gainful employment and connect with employment opportunities.
- Maintain accurate notes of students seen and duties performed; maintain program usage statistics and analyze data toward improvement of services and student outcomes.
- Maintain knowledge of career services best practices including labor market trends and employer recruitment methodologies.
- Manage software systems used to connect students with employment opportunities.
- Prepare and manage the annual Career Services budget.
- Provide retention support services including general studies advising, new student advising, and academic coaching.
- Support and assist team members in the execution of prospective and current student programming or services
- Serve the broader mission of the college and Student Services by serving on campus committees and attending student events
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in career development, business, marketing, talent acquisition, human resources, counseling, education, social work, recruitment, or related fields
- Experience with event or program planning and implementation
- Previous customer service experience with demonstrated active listening and communication skills
- Ability to apply sound judgment and decision making skills to solve complex problems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Business, Marketing, Human Resources, Communication, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education or similar fields
- Certified Career Coaching credential
- Certification in Strong Interest Inventory
Work Environment:
Typical work environment is an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Work is usually performed during the normal work day, however, occasional early morning, late evening and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions. Due to busy seasons, there will be specific times of crucial availability when leave time may not be approved.
Physical Demands:
Employee is regularly required to sit, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required; less frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Periods of walking may occur and may require carrying materials or supplies.
