We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join our busy logistics center in Madison, Wisconsin. As a key member of our warehouse team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts to move, load, unload, and stack materials. This role requires a strong focus on safety, precision, and adherence to all operational procedures. You must be comfortable operating various types of forklifts and possess a valid certification. We provide all necessary PPE, and strict adherence to safety regulations is mandatory. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is crucial. Your role is vital in ensuring the smooth flow of goods through our supply chain. Regular lifting of up to 50 lbs may be required for various tasks. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach) safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas.
- Stack and store inventory according to warehouse layout and safety standards.
- Perform pre-operational inspections of forklift equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
- Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the forklift.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Wear all required PPE at all times while operating machinery or in the warehouse.
- Follow load limits and operating procedures to prevent accidents.
- Support the logistics team by ensuring timely movement of goods.
- Participate in regular safety training and toolbox talks.
- Assist with shipping and receiving duties as needed.
- Ensure proper handling of all materials to prevent damage.
- Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification (required).
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts in a warehouse setting.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents and load plans.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
- Physical ability to perform warehouse tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to wear required PPE and follow all safety protocols.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in the logistics field is preferred.
