Prep Cook

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in preparing ingredients, executing menu items, and supporting the overall food service operations. This role is essential in ensuring timely, high-quality meal preparation that meets safety and sanitation standards. Prior experience in food handling, kitchen operations, or the food industry is preferred, with opportunities for growth within our culinary team.

Duties

• Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, peeling, and measuring as per menu requirements
• Assist in cooking and assembling menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation standards
• Support kitchen staff with food preparation tasks to ensure smooth service flow
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety and sanitation protocols
• Handle food with care to prevent cross-contamination and ensure freshness
• Assist with meal plating and presentation for service
• Follow all safety guidelines related to knife skills, equipment use, and food handling
• Assist in catering events or special functions as needed
• Support inventory management by rotating stock and notifying supervisors of supply needs

Skills

• Experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus
• Knowledge of menu planning and meal preparation techniques
• Strong cooking skills with proficiency in food preparation and food safety practices
• Previous restaurant or kitchen experience demonstrating familiarity with food handling procedures
• Excellent knife skills and ability to execute various cooking techniques
• Understanding of the food industry standards for cleanliness, sanitation, and safety
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy meal periods
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Experience in catering or serving is advantageous but not required
