Position Title: Shift Lead

Location: Frannie's Cones and Coffee

Reports to: Store Manager / Owner

Status: Part-Time or Full-Time

Overview:

Frannie's Cones and Coffee is a retro-inspired sweet shop serving up ice cream, specialty coffee, yogurt, baked goods, and more. Our Shift Leads play a vital role in creating a fun, fast-paced, and friendly experience for both customers and staff. As a Shift Lead, you are responsible for overseeing daily operations during your shift, ensuring quality service, and motivating team members to uphold our high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Support

  • Lead and motivate team members to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Direct the daily workflow and assign tasks to team members as needed.
  • Serve as the go-to point of contact during the shift for questions or concerns.
  • Support onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented atmosphere that reflects the Frannie's vibe.

Operations & Oversight

  • Open or close the shop according to store procedures.
  • Perform cash handling duties, including register reconciliation and nightly deposits.
  • Monitor product levels and communicate restocking needs to management.
  • Ensure that all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are upheld throughout the shop.
  • Manage time-sensitive tasks like baking, prepping yogurt toppings, or overseeing ice cream and coffee stations.
  • Assist with completing checklists and ensuring all tasks are completed before the end of shift.

Customer Experience

  • Provide warm, welcoming service and uphold the Frannie's retro-diner charm.
  • Resolve customer issues calmly and professionally.
  • Monitor order flow and help reduce wait times during peak hours.
  • Encourage upselling and product knowledge among team members.

Accountability & Standards

  • Set an example in attendance, punctuality, appearance, and performance.
  • Communicate consistently with management about shift performance, staff concerns, or customer feedback.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or policy violations immediately.
  • Enforce Frannie's policies and procedures with fairness and professionalism.

Ideal Traits & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in food service or retail, ideally in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills.
  • Natural ability to lead by example and foster teamwork.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a sense of urgency.
  • Passionate about customer service and quality products.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
