Food Server

Location: Miller's Downtown – Charlottesville, VA

Schedule: Nights & weekends required | Open until 2:00 AM nightly

$17–$30 per hour (hourly wage + tips).

Hourly wage plus tips. Actual earnings vary based on experience, availability, shift volume, and performance. This is a high-volume restaurant with strong tip potential, especially nights and weekends.

Miller's Downtown has been open on the Downtown Mall since 1980 and is a cornerstone of Charlottesville's live music and dining scene. We host live music every night and operate one of the highest-volume outdoor cafés on the Downtown Mall. This is a fast-paced, high-energy environment where strong service skills, awareness, and teamwork matter.

We're hiring servers who can handle a busy dining room, take great care of guests, and stay composed during high-volume service. This role includes working during live music performances in a lively, sometimes loud environment. If you move quickly, communicate clearly, and don't fold under pressure, you'll do well here.

• Greet and take care of guests from arrival through check drop
• Take accurate food and drink orders and deliver them efficiently
• Provide menu knowledge and recommendations to enhance the guest experience
• Handle payments using POS systems, cash, and cards
• Maintain clean, organized tables and dining areas
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen, bar, and service team
• Deliver professional service during live music and high-volume shifts
• Resolve guest issues calmly and appropriately

• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Comfort working in a loud, energetic setting with live music
• Reliable availability for nights, weekends, and late-night shifts up to 2:00 AM
• Team-oriented mindset and professional attitude
• Prior serving experience is a plus, but not required

Miller's Downtown is located on the Historic Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Virginia. Miller's has been serving Charlottesville great food and cold drinks for over 40 years. We host 7 nights of live music and have a rich history of musicians that have played on our stage. Miller's also features the largest outdoor cafe on the DTM and our 3rd floor has the only Sports, Cigar and Billiards place in Charlottesville.
