Swan Garden Home Services is seeking a dependable day-shift team member to work 3 PM–11 PM, Monday through Friday (weekends as needed). Applicants should have experience working with behavioral clients and a passion for providing quality care and support.

As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You'll provide compassionate, one-on-one care under the Medicaid Waiver, supporting each individual in reaching personal goals and maintaining independence.

Seeking staff comfortable providing direct care and personal support to male individuals. Experience supporting non-verbal individuals and managing challenging behaviors strongly preferred.

Duties

  • Provide daily assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their home environment.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and mobility support.
  • Provide patient care and support in accordance with individualized care plans.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and personal development.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
  • Transport and accompany individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement effective care strategies tailored to each client's needs.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients.

Skills

  • First aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience in home health, group home settings or assisted living facilities is required.
  • Strong patient observation skills to monitor changes in behavior or health status.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
  • Knowledge of caregiving techniques for individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
  • Familiarity with home health practices and hospice care principles is beneficial.
  • Proficient in meal preparation that meets dietary restrictions or preferences of clients.
  • Experience working within long-term care environments or nursing homes is an asset.
  • Communicate effectively with non-verbal individuals using alternative communication methods (e.g., gestures, devices, or visual supports).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $ $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
