Overview
The Town of Hanover is recruiting a mechanically-inclined, service-oriented team player to join our team as Facility Operator in the Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) department. This existing vacancy is for a full-time, permanent role within the CUPE bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

  • Operating and maintaining all indoor and outdoor recreational municipal facilities, including the P&H Centre (building, arena, pool), parks and pavilions, athletic fields, green spaces, splash pad, and trails
  • Maintaining and ensuring proper operation of the refrigeration system
  • Maintaining pool chemistry, filtration systems, etc. to ensure operations are in line with legislated standards
  • Operating and performing routine maintenance of equipment such as vehicles, ice resurfacer, mowers, snow blowers, tools, etc.
  • Completing electrical, mechanical, renovation and plumbing repairs, including checking and maintaining building systems such as boilers and HVAC systems
  • Opening and closing the facility; completing security checks; monitoring groups and individuals using facilities; taking corrective action where required
  • Setting up and taking down tables, chairs and equipment for rentals
  • Collecting refuse and maintaining clean and safe facilities, including washrooms, arena seating, player benches, showers, etc.
  • Maintaining a variety of maintenance and equipment logs; documenting all incidents and inspections
  • Establishing and fostering positive relationships with staff and patrons; responding to inquiries and/or complaints; responding to emergency call outs

Qualifications

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of similar experience an asset
  • ORFA Basic Refrigeration and/or Certified Pool Operator certification required
  • ORFA, OPA or related turf and/or parks training or certification an asset
  • Valid Ontario 'G' or higher class driver's license in good standing
  • Standard First Aid with CPR certification an asset
  • Well-defined sense of diplomacy with strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with ability to problem solve and adapt to a dynamic and changing environment
  • Must be willing and able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office an asset

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $21.34-$30.71 per hour
