The Used Equipment Manager plays a critical role in leading Finning (Canada)'s power systems used equipment business, ensuring profitable growth and strong market performance. This position oversees strategic acquisitions, sales processes, and inventory management to deliver the best solutions for customers. The successful candidate will work closely with branches, sales teams, and internal partners to maintain consistent service standards and operational excellence. The role supports both domestic and global sales opportunities, strengthening Finning (Canada)'s presence in the used equipment market. Above all, this position provides leadership that drives customer satisfaction, operational discipline, and strong business outcomes.
Earning potential of $115,000-$130,000+ which includes salary and annual bonus

Major Job Functions:

  • Manage used equipment acquisitions and marketing strategies with the intent of maximizing Finning (Canada)'s assets and turns

  • Manage used sales process, working together with Sales staff and Branches to provide best solutions to our customers

  • Engage with other Finning (Canada) internal support groups, to provide best solutions to our Sales force and customers

  • Direct used sales outside of Finning (Canada) territory, including globally

  • Develop a consistent, effective and responsive service standard for the equipment

  • Budget and review reconditioning costs related to used equipment to ensure repair costs align with marketing objectives

  • Manage office functions as required

  • Adhere to all Finning (Canada) Safety, Ethics and Compliance standards

  • Other related functions as required by the Used Equipment Operations Manager

Accountability:

  • Achieve targets for used revenue, used turns, margins and inventory levels

  • Maintain relations, network with customers, employees and Caterpillar

  • Support safety initiatives through supervision and by example

  • Maintain focus on industry momentums, recognizing risks and opportunities as markets change

  • Represent the Company in a professional and ethical manner

  • Responsible for the effective human resources management of staff and to foster an effective work environment which successfully contributes to employee engagement and the achievement of the business goals and objectives for Finning (Canada) and the work unit

Education and Experience

  • Post‑secondary education in business, sales, or a technical field related to power systems

  • Minimum 5+ years of power systems used sales experience

  • Product knowledge specific to power systems equipment (generator sets, industrial engines, gas compression)

  • Thorough understanding of the end‑to‑end power systems sales process, including opportunity assessment, equipment evaluation, pricing, proposal development, negotiation, and execution

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring quality, consistency, and reliable documentation

  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, timelines, and multiple customer opportunities

  • Proven ability to mentor and coach a sales force, supporting capability development and high‑performance execution

  • Knowledge of industry, related products, and the CAT dealer network, including familiarity with Finning systems, MS Office, Lawson, RentalMan, and equipment preparation and presentation
