As one of our AZ Drivers, you'll play a key role in helping our customers safely get the equipment they need to get the job done right. Whether dropping off or picking up product, it's important to really listen, respond quickly, and show we care. We want every customer to have a good experience so we do our best to understand what they need and make sure they feel looked after. Responsibilities include:
Transport and deliver heavy/medium equipment safely and explain their operations to customers.
Ensure all loads are properly secured and loaded and unloaded in safe manner within the time parameters given by the customer.
Assist customers in handling large items.
Immediately advise supervisor of all customer complaints.
Ensure equipment being picked up is not damaged. If damaged, immediately report to the supervisor.
Ensure every customer is treated in a fair and consistent manner.
Remain professional both in conduct and appearance.
Follow all paperwork related to the delivery and pick-up of products for customers.
Maintain all inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of the Rental Management computer system.
Operate vehicle safely following and follow all relevant legislation.
Complete daily truck inspection at the start of the day and keep it on file.
Complete all reports related to vehicle usage such as run sheets, inspection reports and maintenance.
Fill the vehicle up with fuel at the end of every day.
Report any damage or maintenance that has to be done on the vehicle to the supervisor.
Check in with supervisor for duties and/or activities that need to be completed when not on delivery or pick-up, which could include pre-loading, equipment checks, maintenance to vehicle, etc.
Responsible for regularly maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle, store, and areas outside the store.
Adhere to all Provincial and Company safety standards and to any customer safety standards when on-site.
Health and Safety will always be the number one priority at Stephenson's so every employee has the shared responsibility of keeping themselves and all others safe by following the Safety Commitments, PPE requirements and all SOPs and Policies as laid out by Stephenson's and governing laws. Every Stephenson's employee has a duty to report any unsafe working conditions and ensuring that they and their co-workers at all levels of work are wearing their PPE and following our SOPs and policies.
What You Bring to the Table
Minimum 21 years of age
Valid AZ Class Driver's License with clean abstract.
1 year of previous AZ Class driving and delivery experience.
Must be able to lift and load up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
Willing to work in all types of weather, able to load/unload shipments, and lift up to 50lbs where required
Forklift and Heavy Equipment Operators licenses and experience are assets.
A full Class AZ (air brake endorsement) truck license lets you drive:
any truck/tractor trailer combination
a combination of motor vehicle and towed vehicles where the towed vehicles exceed a total gross weight of 4,600 kg (10,000 lbs) and has air brakes
a vehicle pulling double trailers
a car or light truck covered by a Class G licence
heavy trucks covered by the Class D truck licence
any vehicle covered under a restricted Class A truck licence
Trained on oversized equipment as well as the use of applicable municipal oversize load permits that are specific about when you can use certain roads (and not other roads) and any other rules/regulations regarding the transport of oversize loads through different municipalities, e.g., 20 ton excavator.
Requires retesting to various degrees and time frames depending on age, including medical testing to qualify, as well as road practices written test, and road signs written test.
