Position Overview

The MSP Field Engineer is a key member of our Technical Services team, providing hands-on, on-site IT support for small to mid-sized businesses. This role offers exposure to a wide range of technologies—from desktop support to servers, networking, and firewalls.

You will work independently in the field while collaborating closely with our remote support, projects, and service delivery teams. When not on-site with clients, you will work from our Florham Park, NJ office, assisting with service tickets and project work.

This position is ideal for a technically strong, customer-focused engineer who enjoys variety, takes ownership of issues, and thrives in a fast-moving MSP environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site technical support for:

  • PCs and end-user devices

  • Networking equipment
  • Servers and firewalls
  • Desktop and business productivity software
  • Perform work ranging from desktop troubleshooting to complex server and network issues
  • Execute PC migrations and deployments, including data and profile transfers
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to resolve issues efficiently
  • Accurately document tickets, time, and resolutions daily in our PSA and documentation systems
  • Follow internal processes and best practices
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism and customer service at client sites
  • Commit to ongoing technical education, certifications, and skill development
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of recent professional field experience in an MSP, VAR, or IT consulting environment (strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating with technical teams
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple technologies
  • Willingness to take ownership, show initiative, and see issues through to resolution
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and adapt to varying client needs
Technical Experience
  • PC migrations and deployments
  • Windows desktop OS troubleshooting
  • Mid-level server administration and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft 365 (basic administration and troubleshooting)
  • Networking connectivity and related equipment
  • Corporate firewalls (SonicWall experience preferred)
  • Backup technologies (Datto experience preferred)
  • Experience with ConnectWise, Automate, or similar MSP tools is highly preferred
  • Meets assigned technical training and certification goals
Work Requirements
  • Field work throughout NJ / PA / NYC metro area
  • Report to the Florham Park office when not in the field
  • Reliable personal vehicle required (IRS mileage reimbursement provided)
  • Must live within 25 miles of Florham Park, NJ

  • Competitive salary: $60,000 – $75,000 (DOE)
