You’ll encourage pupils to experiment, develop technical skills and take pride in their work—helping them achieve outcomes that truly reflect their abilities.This role is ideal for a teacher who values strong relationships, high standards and pupil wellbeing, and who believes that creativity can transform lives.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging, well-structured and differentiated Art lessonsSupport pupils to achieve ability-appropriate qualifications and outcomesInspire confidence, curiosity and creativity across year groupsTake responsibility for pupil progress, achievement and artistic developmentMonitor, assess and track progress, using data to inform planning and targetsPlan lessons thoroughly and reflect on outcomes, sharing best practice with colleaguesDifferentiate teaching approaches, resources and materials to meet diverse needsUse assessment for learning to help pupils understand their progress and next stepsMark, assess and record work in line with school expectationsUse ICT and digital tools to enhance learning where appropriateCreate a positive, well-managed classroom that supports behaviour for learningContribute to pupils’ pastoral, social, moral and cultural developmentBuild strong, professional relationships with parents and carersEffectively direct and support Teaching Assistants to maximise engagementApply behaviour, rewards and “Ready to Learn” approaches consistentlyProduce accurate, timely reports that support pupil progressFollow school policies on teaching, learning, data, safeguarding and wellbeingContribute to whole-school development and a positive school cultureExperience and Qualifications RequiredUK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).Experience teaching Art within a school setting.Strong knowledge of effective and high-quality classroom practice.This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through creativity, helping pupils develop confidence, self-expression and a lifelong appreciation of the arts.About the schoolThe Tower School is an independent special day school for pupils ages 11 – 18 years who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who will often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.This opportunity is based in Epping, Essex, CM16 4BA and is located on Epping High Road within easy access of J26 of the M25 and Junction 5 of the M11. Epping is a lovely market town in Essex and just 17 miles (30km) from the centre of London. It is surrounded by Epping Forest and the River Roding and River Lea valleys.
