About the Role

The Human Resources Intern demonstrates exceptional customer service by aligning their actions and attitude with Covenant HealthCare's Vision, Mission, and Values. This position is designed to support the HR team by assisting with administrative and clerical tasks, including job description revisions, data entry, document management, and other HR projects. The intern ensures accuracy, confidentiality, and timely completion of all assigned tasks while gaining valuable experience in a professional HR environment.

Responsibilities

Human Resources Support

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resources files, records, and documentation.
  • Assist with job description revisions and updates.
  • Perform scanning, filing, and document organization.
  • Input, validate, and retrieve HR data for reporting and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of all HR information.
  • Participate in HR initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to improve processes and documentation.

Front Desk and Employee Support (As Needed)

  • Assist at the HR front desk when coverage or additional support is required.
  • Manage incoming phone calls and route inquiries appropriately.
  • Greet employees, applicants, and new hires, and direct them to the appropriate HR resources.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding activities, including:
  • Preparing and processing new hire paperwork
  • Sending new hires to Human Resources Information Services (HRIS)
  • Coordinating I-9 completion, fingerprinting, and background checks
  • Collecting and documenting education verification
  • Assist with badge creation and access coordination for new employees.

General Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, phone etiquette, and interpersonal communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Human Resources department.
  • Interns will gain exposure to a wide range of Human Resources functions, including HRIS, Benefits, Leave of Absence, Recruitment, Organizational Development, consultants, and front desk operations, and may support these teams through assigned projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in an office or administrative setting is preferred but not required.

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
  • Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in an office or administrative setting is preferred but not required.

Pay range and compensation package

This is an unpaid internship and may be used to fulfill academic credit requirements, subject to school approval.
