Plant Operations Assistant

Old Orchard Nursing and Respiratory Center is hiring a Maintenance Assistant to support the Plant Operations team. The role requires strong hands-on skills, consistent follow-through, and the ability to work respectfully in resident-occupied areas.

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Compensation: $15 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform painting and drywall repair, including prep, patching, sanding, priming, and finishing.

2. Complete daily touch-ups on walls, doors, trims, and common areas.

3. Assist with routine landscaping tasks, including cleanup, edging, mulching, and basic grounds upkeep.

4. Power wash exterior walkways, patios, siding, and other assigned areas.

5. Support basic HVAC, plumbing, and electrical troubleshooting under the direction of the Maintenance Director.

6. Assist with life safety checks, regulatory audits, and preventive maintenance rounds.

7. Respond to assigned work orders across the facility.

8. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed for room setups and facility operations.

9. Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow PPE, signage, and infection-control policies.

10. Communicate timelines, material needs, and issues to the Maintenance Director.

11. Interact respectfully with residents, families, and staff.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Experience with painting and drywall repair.

2. Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, or HVAC support.

3. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work safely on ladders.

4. Reliable attendance and ability to move throughout the facility.

5. Clear background screening and compliance with hiring requirements.

Preferred

Experience in healthcare, hospitality, or similar resident-occupied environments.

Strong attention to detail and consistent workmanship.
