Title: Procurement Specialist
Location: San Diego, CA
Job Type: FTE/Permanent
Job Description:
This position involves daily interaction with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability to global locations, supporting customer requirements. The role significantly influences supplier performance across quality, cost, and delivery metrics, ultimately supporting customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day and strategic supplier relationships, including purchase order placement, issue resolution, contract preparation and negotiation, demand communication, and risk mitigation.
  • Provide timely support to internal and external stakeholders while adhering to corporate supply chain policies and procedures.
  • Participate and lead projects aligned with organizational goals.
  • Work in a team structure with Sourcing Specialists, Coordinators/Planners, and Supplier Technical Engineers, reporting to a Supply Chain Manager.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for supplier site visits.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of purchasing or equivalent experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Proficiency in business-level English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supply Chain certification (e.g., ASCM, APICS, IIPMR, ISCEA, ISM).
  • Membership in professional purchasing organizations.
  • Background in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or Manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated competencies: customer focus, accountability, proactiveness, and growth mindset.
  • Six Sigma certification (Greenbelt or Blackbelt) with leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong communication, analytical, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
