Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Banquet Sous Chef to oversee culinary operations for large-scale events and banquets. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves supervising kitchen staff, managing food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. The Banquet Sous Chef will play a key role in menu planning, inventory control, and coordinating with event staff to ensure seamless service.
Duties
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing all banquet kitchen operations, including food production and presentation.
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, and client specifications.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, controlling stock levels, and minimizing waste.
- Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen.
- Collaborate with event coordinators to plan menus tailored to specific events and guest needs.
- Manage shift schedules for kitchen staff to ensure proper coverage during banquet events.
- Monitor food quality during service, making adjustments as necessary to meet standards of fine dining and catering excellence.
- Assist in menu development for various banquet functions, incorporating diverse culinary styles and dietary considerations.
- Maintain effective communication with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience in banquet cooking, catering, or fine dining environments with a strong background in food production and kitchen management.
- Supervising or team management experience within a culinary setting is essential.
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions, food safety standards (such as HACCP), and inventory control procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse culinary team.
- Excellent culinary skills across various cuisines with a focus on presentation and quality.
- Experience in menu planning, food handling, and catering operations is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities during high-volume events.
- Previous experience in restaurant or hospitality management is preferred.
