We are seeking outgoing, patient focused individuals to work as a Surgery Scheduler our Mankato, MN clinic.

This position is responsible for surgery scheduling. Duties include providing information to patients before and after surgery, scheduling surgeries, scheduling patient appointments, performing insurance verifications, forwarding required forms to the hospital, and scanning information into MDI.

Responsibilities for a Surgery Scheduler include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Schedule Surgeries using a surgery scheduling checklist
  • Hold surgery talks with patients
  • Complete and review surgery consent forms
  • Perform insurance verifications
  • Make reminder calls and follow up on patient health history and physical
  • Schedule and coordinate special testing requests and consultations with other providers
  • Obtain insurance authorizations
  • Answer incoming Triage calls and route to appropriate team
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills, Abilities and Attributes for a Surgery Scheduler include:

Experience in an Ophthalmology practice, reception and insurance verification tasks, clinic policies/procedures and paperwork, customer service concepts and techniques, understanding of business office procedures and medical terminology and coding is desired but not required.

  • High School Degree or GED required
  • At least 1-3 years of previous experience in the medical field and 1-2 years of experience as a Surgery Scheduler are required
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in person and on the phone
  • Ability to perform High School level mathematical calculations
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to operate essential business equipment such as a multi-line phone, photocopy and fax machine and computer
  • Ability to recognize problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and provide possible solutions to managers.
  • Ability to sit for an extended period
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability and willingness to travel between clinics
