Electrician - Full Time - Days

The Electrician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of hospital electrical systems, including power distribution, fire alarms, nurse call systems, and lighting. It also involves assisting other facility workers with electrical installations or repairs. Independent judgment is required for handling the details of each task or job.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, fire drills, and disaster protocols, with the ability to reset and troubleshoot fire alarm systems.
- Ensures a safe environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment.
- Focuses on customer service and professional safety, proactively addressing environmental safety hazards and maintaining a high standard of care with no complaints from patients or staff.
- Available for on-call duty, works additional hours or shift changes as needed, and voluntarily adjusts schedule to accommodate work assignments and emergencies.
- Maintains and repairs electrical distribution systems, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, and various hospital equipment, including emergency generators and storage battery systems.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and installs new equipment, ensuring compliance with accreditation and code standards.
- Assists with data line installations, office/room moves, and scheduling planned maintenance for the electrical distribution system with outside resources.
- Investigates work requests, addresses safety issues promptly, provides operational suggestions, assists with staff training on equipment, and maintains knowledge of medical center systems, including troubleshooting electrical car charging stations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Education - High School Diploma / GED
- Experience - Three years' experience as an electrician (Journeyman). Experience includes knowledge and the ability to work with 480/277/208/120/ single and three phase wiring systems. The candidate will have a strong knowledge of the National Electrical Coode, town or AHJ electrical codes, and the ability to interpret construction design electrical drawings and specifications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with other members of the department.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Licensure - Master License preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Requirements also include climbing, bending, and the ability to get into tight spaces while working off a ladder.
Location and Travel Requirements:
- Onsite at Schuyler Hospital - 220 Steuben Street Montour Falls, NY 14865
- This position will support other locations within the Cayuga Health System
- Schedule - 1st Shift - Monday-Friday, On Call Rotation
Pay Range Disclosure:
- $30.45 to 37.00 per hour
