SUMMARY

The Market Development Manager for Expansion is responsible for driving new growth in emerging and underdeveloped markets. This role focuses on identifying and leveraging strategic partnerships within these markets and securing service contracts that grow the network and revenue of United Communications.

POSITION SCHEDULE AND ONSITE REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a direct-hire, full-time position. 
  • Extensive travel will be involved in Tennessee and Northern Alabama for this position. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required.

Market Expansion & Territory Development

  • Conduct in-depth market analysis, evaluating factors such as population growth and density, broadband availability, and competitor presence, to identify emerging or underserved markets for United Communications expansion.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies and sales objectives for each new market.
  • Fulfill RFP requests and conduct customer presentations and consultative partner meetings with key stakeholders within each market.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts on behalf of United Communications in accordance with company policies and revenue goals.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on performance metrics, market challenges, and emerging opportunities.

Partner Cultivation & Lead Generation

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders within each market, including government agencies, public and private utilities, developers, asset owners, and property management companies.
  • Engage prospective partners via local partnerships, targeted outreach, community events, and marketing campaigns.
  • Leverage Salesforce to track opportunities, key accounts, and sales activity. Utilize reports and dashboards to track conversion rates and assess/refine sales strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing to design hyper-local awareness campaigns to drive inbound interest and trust in new territories.
  • Consistently monitor regional trends, competitor activity, pricing models, and customer feedback to refine United's expansion playbook.

Community Engagement & Brand Awareness

  • Represent United Communications within assigned expansion markets and develop partnerships with local organizations such as chambers of commerce, technology, business organizations, and municipal groups to accelerate adoption and trust of United services.
  • Work closely with local municipalities and power/utility companies to align on infrastructure opportunities, right-of-way agreements, and community broadband initiatives.

WHAT YOU BRING

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of successful B2B telecom or technology sales experience, with a proven track record of exceeding quotas. 
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • Strong understanding of telecom products and services.
  • Proven ability to exceed quota in a competitive sales environment.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and consultative sales skills.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce and Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Established relationships with telecom decision makers.
  • Existing knowledge of the development landscape and stakeholders in North AL and TN.
  • Experience selling fiber broadband.
