This is a highly entrepreneurial role suited to someone comfortable operating in ambiguity, translating complex ideas into compelling narratives, and building trust before tangible products exist. Responsibilities include: Innovation & Opportunity Development:
- Identify, develop, and pursue funding and commercialization opportunities for early-stage concepts, R&D initiatives, and pre-product innovations.
- Work closely with internal R&D, leadership, and technical teams to deeply understand Vitacore's innovation pipeline, scientific capabilities, and long-term vision.
- Translate complex technical ideas into clear, compelling value propositions tailored to investors, grant agencies, and strategic partners.
- Build and manage relationships with venture capital firms, angel investors, corporate venture arms, accelerators, and innovation-focused funds.
- Lead outreach, pitching, and follow-up with potential investors and funding partners.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue relevant government grants, innovation funding programs, and non-dilutive capital opportunities.
- Coordinate and contribute to grant applications, pitch decks, investment memos, and supporting materials.
- Act as a key external ambassador for Vitacore's innovation efforts.
- Help create buzz and market awareness around Vitacore's emerging technologies and innovation strategy.
- Represent Vitacore at industry events, innovation forums, demo days, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Monitor innovation trends, competitive landscapes, and funding ecosystems to inform strategy and positioning.
- Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with industry players, research institutions, and commercialization partners.
- Support early discussions around pilots, proof-of-concept collaborations, and joint development opportunities.
- Help shape go-to-market and commercialization strategies for concepts transitioning toward product development.
- Build and maintain a structured pipeline of innovation opportunities, funding prospects, and strategic leads.
- Track engagement, progress, and outcomes using internal systems and reporting tools.
- Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership on opportunity status, risks, and next steps.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are an asset.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, innovation commercialization, venture engagement, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with venture capital, investors, grant agencies, or innovation ecosystems.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical or scientific concepts in a clear, persuasive, and engaging way.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in early-stage, fast-moving, and ambiguous environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including pitch development and executive-level presentations.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in healthcare, biotech, sustainability, advanced manufacturing, or deep-tech environments is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems and pitch management tools is an asset.
