Nine Mile is a Caribbean-inspired, vegetarian-friendly restaurant and bar with three locations in Asheville, North Carolina. A local and tourist favorite since we opened our doors in 2008, we love serving neighbors from near and far with our laid-back vibes and fresh flavors.

Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and personable Host to join our dynamic team As the welcoming face of our establishment, you will create a positive first impression for guests by providing exceptional customer service and ensuring smooth seating and reservation processes. Your enthusiasm and communication skills will set the tone for an outstanding dining experience, making guests feel valued and comfortable from the moment they arrive. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your hospitality skills in a lively, fast-paced environment where every day brings new connections and opportunities to shine.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly with genuine enthusiasm, making them feel immediately welcomed and appreciated
  • Manage reservations and seating arrangements efficiently using POS systems
  • Maintain clear communication with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure seamless service flow
  • Answer guest inquiries politely via phone or in person, providing accurate information about wait times, menu options, and restaurant policies
  • Monitor guest flow during busy periods, managing waitlists and seating assignments to optimize guest satisfaction
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization at the host stand and waiting areas
  • Support guest relations by addressing concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive dining experience for all

Experience

  • Previous host or host experience in a food service or restaurant setting is preferred but not required; enthusiasm and a positive attitude are essential
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with diverse guests and team members
  • Background in hospitality or hotel guest services enhances your ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, serving etiquette, and phone etiquette is advantageous
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a lively environment while maintaining professionalism and friendliness
  • Prior experience with guest relations or customer service roles will help you excel in this position
