Job Summary
Phaze Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Estimator to support our commercial and industrial construction projects. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, well-documented electrical cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and collaborating closely with project management and operations to ensure successful project execution.
The ideal candidate understands that estimating does not stop at bid day. This role requires a strong working knowledge of electrical systems, construction processes, and cost control strategies to deliver competitive bids that translate cleanly into field execution and profitable projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive electrical estimates for commercial and industrial projects
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to determine scope, risks, and material requirements
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor bids
- Develop labor projections aligned with realistic field productivity expectations
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and risk items prior to bid submission
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and ownership on pricing strategy and bid reviews
- Assist with value engineering, alternates, and change order pricing
- Provide clear bid proposals including scope narratives, pricing breakdowns, and assumptions
- Support effective estimate turnover to project management and field teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and pricing accuracy
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of electrical estimating experience (commercial or industrial)
- Experience estimating projects $100K–$3M+
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on electrical systems
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and labor
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Proficiency with Accubid and Excel
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for plan review and take-offs
- Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on cost accuracy and accountability
- Demonstrated understanding of how estimates transition into field execution
- Ability to work independently and meet bid deadlines
Preferred (Not Required)
- Field experience (Journeyman, Foreman, or Project Manager background)
- Experience with AIA contract environments
- Familiarity with NEC codes and estimating best practices
- Familiarity with Middle Tennessee market pricing
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $85,000 – $115,000, depending on experience
