In this role, you’ll drive the delivery of content across our website ensuring everything we publish is accurate, accessible, and customer‑focused. Working closely with subject experts, UX specialists, and developers, you’ll help us deliver content that meets business needs and enhances the user experience. Our website is the gateway for all our customers and during exam periods will be one of the most visited in the UK! You’d be contributing to content that appears in nearly 50,000 search results, resources and webpages.
Key responsibilities In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
Planning, producing, and reviewing digital content for the AQA website.
Managing content workflows to ensure timely, high‑quality delivery.
Ensuring that our content is compliant, accurate, QA tested and adheres to regulatory standards.
Supporting the creation of our specifications and specification pages using our DITA tools.
Embedding SEO best practices and driving continuous improvement in content processes.

Full Job Description Purpose
The Digital Content Producer briefs, manages, scopes and creates a variety of digital and downloadable content to support both business‑as‑usual activities and our web 2.0 strategy. They collaborate with subject and technical experts to ensure content is high‑quality, accessible, and answers our customers’ needs. Working closely with the Web Delivery Manager and UX colleagues, they plan, produce, and review content aligned with the Web 2.0 plan, ensuring timely and budget‑conscious, efficient delivery. The role also embeds SEO best practices and champions content excellence within the Web Operations team, driving innovation and continuous improvement. This role reports to the Web Delivery Manager.
Landscape
The Digital Content Producer role sits within the Web Operations Team, part of the Marketing and Brand department within the Customer and Product Directorate. This directorate includes Marketing, Sales, Customer Services, and Product Development, all focused on putting our customers first. The website is critical to exam series delivery, especially during the summer period, requiring hands‑on support during key results days from the whole team.
Though not a line management role, the Digital Content Producer collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders—including Heads of Department, UX experts, developers, and tech suppliers—to support strategic and tactical initiatives. Regular engagement across all levels and locations is essential, with travel primarily to Manchester, Guildford, and London if needed.
Activities
Responsible for driving delivery of the digital content aspects of our Web 2.0 plan, across internal teams, co‑ordinating stakeholder input and ensuring that designs, copy and assets are collated on time and published/uploaded to a high standard.
Copywriting for a range of mediums including web, social media, brochures and presentations.
Undertake critical content hygiene and maintenance activities such as auditing, reviewing, archiving, re‑tagging and optimising content.
Commission relevant internal and external subject experts and third parties to develop, review and produce content.
Write and communicate effective briefs to ensure successful production of content.
Support the Web Delivery Manager to effectively manage and coordinate the production of each piece of content to time, to quality and budget.
Responsible for working with our Web Delivery Manager to optimise our flow of content work, refine our content workflows and deliver efficiencies which will deliver value to the organisation and our customers alike.
Responsible for the provision of progress and performance reporting against agreed targets to Heads of Department and other relevant stakeholders.
Monitor the success of content produced to continuously learn and improve and undertake personal development to learn from external best practice and developments.
Ensure expectations of the business and its customers are understood and met.
Supporting the team to retrospectively review and improve content processes by instilling the concept of continuous improvement.
Stakeholders
Work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, a range of Senior Stakeholders, our outsourced development agency, and our Web Operations team – as well as internal departments including Security and Risk and GDPR. Provide confidence to customers and stakeholders through consistent, timely, excellent communication, updates and reporting.
Other Responsibilities
Continuous professional development – responsible for ensuring own ongoing professional development to meet existing and future organisational needs.
Technical writing – amending and adapting specifications using our DITA tools.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
Essential Criteria
Excellent editorial skills to ensure the content is fit for purpose and meets quality standards.
Excellent experience of digital content production workflows and processes in a variety of agile / lean and scaled agile delivery structures and/or publishing environments, with an outcome‑focussed approach.
Excellent attention to detail to ensure the content meets quality standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrable ability to scope, source, brief, commission, create, drive, innovate and review content solutions across a wide range of software technologies, processes and platforms.
Structured thinking approach, able to lead groups of people to break down and resolve complex and ambiguous problems in time‑pressured environments, recognising and balancing technical against operational and commercial factors.
Experience delivering in high‑stakes and/or regulated environments.
High level of curiosity, with a genuine passion for finding and implementing innovative solutions for business problems through technology.
Passion for continuous improvement in practice, to increase product quality, reliability, and dependability.
Adept at conflict navigation and resolving interpersonal conflicts.
Desirable Criteria
Experience in digital or educational publishing.
A good understanding of how AQA’s products are used by teachers in AQA centres.
Experience in managing and delivering digital projects or products.
