Payroll Assistant

Portables is seeking a Payroll Assistant to help with our payroll operations. This position sits at our corporate office and requires superior communication skills, dedication, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience performing activities necessary to process payroll, including data entry, maintaining related records, processing involuntary deductions, and preparing special reports for management. This position works closely under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor and Director of Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Performs data entry related to bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring the timely processing of all staff payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles.

· Audits payroll data entry and resolves any discrepancies.

· Helps process wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner, including reporting to the necessary State office or jurisdiction and assisting employees with general process questions.

· Assists staff with general questions related to payroll, leave accruals, wage deductions, and other pay related issues.

· Helps conduct regular payroll reporting as required and assists with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger.

· Processes manual checks as necessary with approval from supervisor.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

· Minimum one year of payroll assistant background or related experience.

· Must have experience processing payroll within the ADP platform. Applicants without ADP payroll processing experience will not be considered.

· Knowledge of general bookkeeping, accounting, and filing procedures/practices, modern office methods and related equipment.

· Intermediate computer skills with a proven understanding of MS Office, specifically Excel and Outlook.

· Experience with computer data entry and ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM.

· Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact; superior customer services and interpersonal communication skills; Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse people groups.
