JOB LOCATION:Waukee Family YMCA
HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: Schedule varies, Full Time 40 hours/week
HOURLY RATE: $17.50-$20.00/hour based on experience and skills
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: February 2, Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is primarily tasked with assisting the Aquatics Program Director in leadership for the aquatics facility, lifeguards and aquatics programs. This position is responsible for delivery of high quality aquatics programming, as well as managing to deliver safety, quality, and impact. This position supervises staff and volunteers, and may assist with managing community relationships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT/MANAGEMENT

  • Create, develop and implement new and existing programs.
  • Manage assigned aquatic program areas and activities, ensuring programs comply with all applicable YMCA standards and methods of operation and continually strive to attain the highest possible level of quality.
  • Expand participation in assigned programs.
  • Evaluate and review assigned programs to ensure consistent quality and Safety.
  • Assist in pool testing and mechanical maintenance

PROMOTION MANAGEMENT

  • Assist in the development and distribution of materials to market and promote programs
  • Coordinate communicate with assigned program participants.
  • Assist in the identification of target audience(s) for assigned programs.

FISCAL MANAGEMENT

  • Monitor scheduled hours to ensure payroll achieves budget goals.
  • Prepare and submit all required financial information and reports.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Determine staffing needs of assigned program area(s) within YMCA guidelines and procedures.
  • Manage the recruiting and hiring of staff for the assigned program area(s).
  • Manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff to ensure satisfactory job performance.
  • Manage and maintain staffing to cover all areas of assigned program(s).
  • Conduct required orientation and training for assigned staff.
  • Ensure applicable staff development opportunities are taken by assigned staff.
  • Prepare and submit payroll paperwork and time/attendance information as required by YMCA policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

MEMBER SERVICE/COMMUNITY RELATIONS

  • Build relationships with members connecting each person with the YMCA.
  • Effectively maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Serve as a YMCA representative, both within the organization and outside the organization.
  • Demonstrate and support the objectives of the organization as embodied in the mission statement and values.

OTHER

  • Assist in organization's financial development efforts, including the annual fund raising campaign.
  • Serve on organization and community committees and teams as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • A minimum of one year related program development and/or program management experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months of leadership experience required; supervisory experience preferred
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office environment
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications or equivalent - prior to starting if hired
  • Certified Pool Operator certification within 90 day of hire
  • Intro to Y's Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to starting if hired
  • Additional training will be assigned and must be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, lift up to ten pounds of weight, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, and may at times require peripheral vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. This position usually works in an office, Aquatics, and/or fitness oriented environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces. This position works a non-standard work week and will often work evening, weekend, and additional hours to accommodate management of program activities and representation of the organization at events.
