Supervisor Housekeeping
FLSA: Exempt – H13
Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to Facilities Management, the Supervisor oversees and supports the custodial operation and maintenance of all campus buildings and affiliated locations. The Housekeeping function is responsible for day-to-day housekeeping and custodial operations (including occasional aspects of hardscape maintenance), as well as periodic moving and related activities with inclement weather.
The Supervisor provides direction, training, and performance evaluation for Housekeeping staff, ensuring all facilities are cleaned and maintained using standard methods and procedures. The role also supports campus environmental health and safety initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
• Ensuring a safe, secure, clean, and efficiently maintained campus environment that supports academic and administrative operations.
• Providing daily scheduling, supervision, discipline along with regular and periodic evaluation of staff.
• Maintaining adequate complement of staff through active and determinative participation in hiring staff
• Contributing to planning, preventive maintenance, and service improvement.
• Assisting in managing the budget for housekeeping operations.
• Supporting projects related to housekeeping, renovations, environmental health and safety, and campus sustainability initiatives.
• Assisting in contractor selection and oversight from a housekeeping perspective.
• Advising the College, contract vendors, and manufacturers on housekeeping needs.
• Maintaining effective communication with other departments regarding housekeeping operations and renovation projects.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable environmental and safety regulations.
• Providing support for financial management related to housekeeping operations and maintenance.
• Performing related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of housekeeping experience with progressive responsibility, including leadership roles in large facilities.
• Hands-on experience with housekeeping skills, materials, supplies, and equipment.
• High school diploma and advanced training.
Preferred Qualifications
• College degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Housekeeping management experience in an academic, cultural, or non-profit setting.
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to manage costs effectively.
• Strong working knowledge of a wide variety of housekeeping equipment and material handling methods.
• Proven ability to develop strong working relationships across all levels of an organization; strong interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated success in developing and motivating staff.
