Picture your day starting at 6:00 AM in our Alsip, IL shop. The crew huddles, reviews the day's plan, and you dive into assembling and wiring a custom overhead crane—double-checking every connection so it performs safely and reliably. Later in the week, you're on a rotating field crew, traveling to a customer site to commission a new runway system. You read the prints, wire the control panel, verify 480V power, and fine-tune PLC/VFD parameters before running final checks with the team.
We're a long-standing, family-owned manufacturer of custom-engineered overhead crane and runway systems, expanding our service team with multiple openings. If you like hands-on, technically challenging work and want to learn from seasoned technicians on large-scale equipment, this role is for you.
How You'll Contribute- Install, commission, service, and maintain overhead cranes and runway systems at customer sites and in-house.
- Interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to plan and execute work accurately.
- Wire control panels, terminate connections, and work confidently with 480V industrial power.
- Diagnose and correct issues involving PLCs, relays, sensors, limit switches, VFDs, and automation components.
- Support shop builds: mechanical assembly, wiring, and functional testing to meet strict performance and safety criteria.
- Join rotating weekly field crews; travel approximately 20% to industrial facilities across the U.S.
- 1+ year in a field service, maintenance, or industrial technician capacity.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with 480V systems and motor controls.
- Ability to read schematics and wire control panels with precision.
- Hands-on exposure to PLC/VFD diagnostics and common test instruments.
- Basic mechanical know-how with hoists, gearboxes, and drive assemblies.
- Commitment to safe work practices in industrial environments.
- 3+ years of related experience, especially with cranes, hoists, or material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with automation/control logic and commissioning/start-up of electro-mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E electrical safety practices.
- Mechanical fabrication skills: drilling, cutting, fitting.
- Technical certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechatronics, or industrial maintenance.

- Pay: $25–$40/hour, based on experience
