Summary

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, this position is responsible for providing administrative and operational direction to GMI, Inc. Resource Management and / or Waste Management in handling scrap, recyclable, non-hazardous and hazardous waste generated from the process of building automobiles. This position is responsible for supporting the administrative, operational, and reporting requirements of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas. The responsibilities of this position include assuring the applicability of the GMI Safety Policy and the Environmental Policy, monitoring overall performance, assuring regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in the protection of the environment and reduction of pollution from the activities within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the GMI Safety Policy, Procedures, and monitoring to Key Performance Indicators.
  • Supports the company business, operational, financial, and environmental objectives.
  • Participates in the definition, implementation, and monitoring of safety guidelines.
  • Understands and directs waste management operations based on Fed/State/Local regulations, customer requirements, and GMI Texas Work Instruction Sheets (WIS); including but not limited to hazardous, non-hazardous, universal waste activities conducted by GMI for our customers.
  • Contributes to the development and reporting of environmental objectives, targets, and programs.
  • Monitors overall EMS performance and assures regulatory compliance.
  • Assures continuous improvement in the Safety, EMS and OHSMS.
  • Ability to learn, conduct, and accurately access business conditions based on Toyota Business Practices (TBP) - A3 format, current situation, ideal situation, gap analysis, 5 why, root cause and recommend countermeasures for problem solving and PDCA in all operations of GMI.
  • Ability to learn and teach the Toyota Production Systems (TPS) management philosophy, lean manufacturing principles, reduction of waste (Muda) and support the GMI teams on continuous improvement activities (kaizen) for the customers.
  • Supports TMMTX Environmental Department in administrative tasks, as requested, including but not limited to:
  • Weekly database data entry accuracy audits.
  • Waste profile development support and monitoring of completion cycle.
  • Provide support to the Manifest return process, filing, tracking.
  • Shutdown Project support (coordination/mapping/closure)
  • Support the collection of data for the Annual Waste Summary (AWS)
  • Reviews, creates, updates, instructs, and confirms the monthly customer reports.
  • Safety / Weekly Metals Division (MD) 5s walk throughs Safety / Monthly MD Behavior auditing, Environmental, Safety, and 5s MD monthly compliance audits Weekly/Monthly MD scale ticket accuracy and reporting audits.
  • Verify MD Monthly Waste Shipment scheduling.

Shift Time: 9:30 am to 6:30pm
