Assistant Teacher

Job Summary
Sourdough Montessori is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Teacher to join our educational team, beginning in January 2026. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in childcare and special education, with experience working with children 3-6 years old. This role is essential in supporting the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that fosters childhood development and literacy education.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and curriculum development tailored to preschool-aged children.
• Support children's learning by facilitating activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and social development.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to ensure a collaborative approach to education.
• Monitor and assess children's progress, providing feedback to the lead teacher regarding individual needs and achievements.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education practices.

Requirements

• Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is essential.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices, particularly for preschool-aged children.
• Familiarity with curriculum development and lesson planning strategies that engage young learners for circle time and small groups.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that supports all learners' needs.
